Will Scooby Wright Play Against UCLA?
***UPDATE***
Rich Rod confirmed on ESPN College GameDay that Scooby Wright will play!!!
The time frame for his injury (lateral meniscus tear) was stated as 3-4 weeks for recovery time. By game time it will be a little over 3 weeks.
Will he be cleared by game time and if he is will Rich Rod take the chance of letting him play in the game?
It’s obvious that Scooby would be a huge boost for the defense if he gets to play and could very well be a factor in who will win this game. The defense has been plagued by injuries and has been struggling to fill the linebacker position. It is one of the most important positions in Jeff Casteel’s 3-3-5 defensive scheme.
I think the ploy here is definitely to not let anybody know until game time. I think Scooby will suit up, but not play. It will keep UCLA on their toes and force them to spend extra time in the event he does play.
On the other hand, I’m sure it must be killing Scooby that he hasn’t been able to play in the last few games. In addition, this is a huge game for Arizona. They are playing at home against a ranked team, the game will be on national television and ESPN Game Day is coming to Tucson. It doesn’t get much bigger than this for Arizona football. If he is definitely cleared he might not accept being on the sideline so who knows… We will find out soon enough…
