Well it wasn’t pretty but the Cats pulled off a the victory in the big season home opener. QB Anu Solomon looked like he had the first game jitters and made some wild passes, but he pulled it together and pulled off some incredible plays like this one:

RB Nick Wilson started off slow, but picked it up a lot in the second half. When he gets going he’s unstoppable. When the offense starts clicking and he’s able to get through the line the defense of the other team will get tired quickly.

Jared Baker got some decent carries – it looks like him and Nick Wilson are the only two running backs that played in the game.

The defense started off great with a pick six interception by Anthony Lopez, but then things quickly turned bad. They gave up way too many yards and constantly missed tackles. If this doesn’t change in the next few games this will be a very long season.

The worst news for the defense is that all start linebacker Scooby Wright got a bad knee injury during the game. Sources are saying that he could be out of commission for at least a month.

Wright just had surgery to repair a lateral meniscus tear. Hopefully he heals quickly and is able to play football at some point again.

Overall, the game was entertaining, but it was frustrating watching all the mistakes – especially on defense. The season just started and the good thing is there is a lot of time to improve. With Scooby out other players need to step up or we will be in trouble when conference play starts.

Also, at one point in the game when the offense failed to score in the red zone, it looked like Rich Rod’s head was going to explode. He needs to take a deep breath before he has a stroke on the 50 yard line.

The Wildcats take away the win – on to the next one!!
