When the Wildcats lost senior Steven Gurrola due to him graduating, they are now in a dilemma for the starting Center position.

There was a slight ray of hope that graduate transfer Matt Hegarty might be able to fill the role, but he chose to play at Oregon instead. Hegarty would have been an ideal fit for the position because of his experience as well as his quickness and size.

During recent practices it looked like Carter Wood would get the starting spot because he was taking a lot of snaps at center and the coaches were impressed. Unfortunately, some rumors spread yesterday that he could be out for the year because of a chronic foot injury and today he confirmed it himself on twitter:

Now the team enters a period of uncertainty at the center position and the new rumor which will probably turn out to be true is that Cayman Bundage will be the new center.

This shift could stir things up on the offensive line because he is a great guard that really made a big difference last season. If this turns out to be true then Zach Hemmila will most likely take over the left guard position.

The start of the 2015 season is only a few weeks away and this must be resolved as soon as possible. I think Cayman Bundage will be the best fit, but the other players will have to step up a lot more for this to be successful. Time will tell…
